The Fortunate Pilgrim

Lucia is married in absentia to an Italian already in America. She joins him, bears his children and struggles on after his death. Her second husband (Edward James Olmos) goes mad, and again she is alone with her brood. Hal Holbrook is a doctor who pursues Lucia. Some of Lucia's children have tragic destinies. Others are more fortunate pilgrims, like their mother, in the end.
